"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” - Colossians 3:16-17

These two verses are what God used to call Dave to music ministry back in college. The interesting thing about this section of Scripture is that it’s a call for every Christian to turn away from worldly things and to pursue God. We should always be growing in our relationship with God, and the vehicle mentioned here to do that is music—through psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Dave would say music—and creative arts in general—is a way for all of us to grow as believers in Christ.

Dave became a Christian his senior year of high school and spent the following years at the University of Oklahoma building a foundation for his Christian walk as an active part of the Baptist Student Union ministry. He also met his wife Misty during college, and they were married June of 1996.

Music and creative arts have always been a part of Dave’s life. He’s been involved in music ministry in some capacity for the last 20+ years and on staff at a church as the worship pastor for the last five and a half years. But vocationally he’s also worked creatively in the business world at several radio stations, as a freelance website designer and leading a production team of graphic designers and other content creators. He currently has the opportunity to use his experiences and knowledge to help train other worship pastors through a YouTube channel and a monthly podcast.

Dave and Misty have three children and are in a season of life where they’re about to watch these children begin to become adults. Caden is 15, Maison is 13 and Addison will be 11 this month.
