On Target

CHBC Men's Ministry Presents: On Target

Men's Ministry Presents On Target 2016: a men's shooting event coming this June. Last year the competition was exciting and this year we've upped the game! This year we will have a pistol range; bring your own pistols and ammo to shoot on this range. We will have an area to check your gear and belongings when you're not using them so you don't have to worry about carrying them around. We have also added an archery course, which will be provided by the OWD, along with a shotgun area. Finally, we will have a Confidence Course that will test your mettle with multiple weapons and targets at different ranges. Lunch will be provided at the event, along with a short devotional. Join us June 25 for a fun day at the range with CHBC Men's Ministry!

Featured Devotional: Todd Craighead

We are excited to have Todd Craighead with us for the day. He'll be leading a short devotional around lunch that you definitely don't want to miss! Todd is a native of Stillwater, graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1992 with degrees in wildlife/fisheries ecology and communications. He has worked in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as a handicapped children’s camp nature instructor and in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado as a Ranger for the U.S. Forest Service.

He currently works for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, where for 20 years Todd has been a producer and staff writer and photographer for Outdoor Oklahoma television show and magazine. In 2001, Todd was selected as host and producer of the award-winning weekly show that is seen in more than 250,000 homes each week across the state.

Todd is a member of Quail Springs Baptist Church, where he teaches Sunday School and serves as an usher. He has one daughter, Emily, who begins college this fall on a National ROTC scholarship and will serve in the Army as a lawyer (JAG).

Todd’s credentials as a seasoned outdoorsman are numerous, but the greatest accomplishment of his life has been the ability to overcome monumental physical obstacles. Not even multiple birth defects to his arms, hands, legs, and feet, or growing up in a wheelchair could slow Todd down from becoming easily the most widely-recognized outdoorsman in Oklahoma.

Special Guest: Jamie Meyer

We are also thrilled to invite another special guest, Jamie Meyer for an exciting demonstration! Jamie Meyer is a certified NRA Firearms Instructor for Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Refuse to Be a Victim, NRA Range Safety Officer, Certified USPSA Range Officer, as well as a Rangemaster Instructor Graduate. She is also part of the Pro Staff Team for “Shoot Like A Girl”, which is a company whose mission is to grow the number of women in the shooting sports. Additionally, she is certified through OSBI & C.L.E.E.T. to teach the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act--which are the conceal/open carry classes in the state of Oklahoma. She also owns her own firearm training business called Oklahoma Gun Training  (www.oklahomaguntraining.com) and works full time for the District Attorney’s Office.

She has over 350 hours of professional defensive and competitive training techniques. Some of the Instructors whom she has trained with are Will Andrews, Spencer Keepers, Paul Abel, Marshall Luton, Mike Seeklander, Tom & Lynn Givens, Dianna Muller, Lena Miculek, Kay Miculek, Keith Garcia, just to name a few. Jamie has also been featured in “The American Woman Shooter” magazine, and the “Frontsight” magazine, as well as several social media websites over the last couple years.

She is very active in her community by helping the local gun ranges with their yearly NRA Women On Target Events, guest speaking for various Women’s Only Shooting Leagues, and she volunteers to do seminars and classes as needed. She started shooting competitively in 2011 at a local Bullseye Match and it has since evolved into USPSA, Steel Challenge, and 3 Gun matches. Jamie has now become a valuable resource for many women in her community that are wanting to get into competitive shooting.

We can't wait to see you at On Target this year!
